Midfielder Dani Ceballos has made the decision to reject Olympique Marseille after the French club ultimately reached an agreement with Real Madrid, one which would’ve sent Ceballos to the French Ligue 1 on a loan deal with an obligation from Marseille to buy the player next summer.
Betis have now emerged as the only candidates to sign Ceballos away from Real Madrid this summer after the Sevilla-based club failed to complete a move for Anthony, according to a report published on AS.
It’s now increasingly likely that Ceballos ends up staying at Real Madrid, which would ultimately be useful for Xabi Alonso given the lack of depth in the midfield line the team currently has. While Ceballos is not expected to be a relevant player in Madrid this season, he will be a reliable player in case of injuries or suspensions ahead of what’s going to be a very long season for Real Madrid.
