Mariah Mazon, for Team Coffey, and Taylor McQuillan, for Team Netz, started Game One of the AUSL doubleheader on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first inning, Team Netz opened the scoring with a run in the second. Captain Devyn Netz led off with a double and two free passes loaded the bases with one out. Morgan Zerkle then drew a walk to bring in the game’s first run. McQuillan answered in the circle, earning a shutdown inning in the second.

In the third, Tori Vidales doubled Team Netz’s lead. The former Texas A&M great homered to lead off the away third, giving Team Netz a 2-0 lead. Team Coffey punched back in the third, though. Captain Danieca Coffey singled and Danielle Gibson-Whorton tied the game on a two-run blast.

No score in the fourth brought a 2-2 tie to the fifth inning. Team Netz had more help from their captain in the top half of the inning. Netz laced her second double of the game and Anissa Urtez lifted a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run. Lexi Kilfoyl came on in relief in the home half, faced the minimum and struck out a pair to win the inning.

Kilfoyl locked down the rest of the game for Team Netz, ensuring a 3-2 win. Earning the save, Kilfoyl dealt three scoreless innings and surrendered just one hit on three strikeouts. Team Netz earned 50 inning points, leaving only 10 points to the opposing Team Coffey. They also garnered 70 points for the win, finishing off Series Three in fashion.

Team Kowalik 5, Team Ricketts 1

Georgina Corrick, for Team Kowalik, tossed a complete game to wrap up Series Three of the AUSL All-Star Cup. All runs in Game Two of the doubleheader came in an eventful second inning.

Team Ricketts scored first when Sharlize Palacios knocked a single and Bubba Nickles-Camarena doubled in the game’s first run. Unfortunately for Team Ricketts, they were unable to push across another run tonight.

In the home half, Team Kowalik chased Team Ricketts’ starter Emma Lemley from the game. Delanie Wisz ripped a double and Jessi Warren singled her in. Then, Victoria Hayward drove in a pair on the second double of the inning. Captain Keilani Ricketts came on in relief after Hayward’s double, but Amanda Lorenz welcomed her with a two-run homer, blowing the game open.

The last four innings featured a pitcher’s duel between Corrick and Ricketts. Corrick settled in after the second inning, striking out nine in her complete game win. Team Kowalik earned all 60 inning points, in addition to its allotted 70 points for the win.
