Back in June, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers sounded like he was going to retire following the 2025 season. But on Monday, Rodgers sounded much different when asked about his future.

Shortly after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers made it sound like 2025 would be the final season of his career. However, Rodgers has now changed his tune.
In an interview with Pat McAfee back in June, Rodgers said he was "pretty sure" he would retire following the 2025 campaign.
"That's why we just did a one-year deal — Steelers didn't need to put any extra years on that or anything," Rodgers said. "This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I've had. I mean, I've played freaking 20 years, you know? It's been a long run, and I've enjoyed it.
"What better to place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys and a city that expects you to win," Rodgers concluded.

Now compare that to what Rodgers said on Monday in an interview with Adam Schein on Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM.
"Oh, I don't know," he said of retirement. "I mean, I'll reassess all that in the end, but, you know, I signed a one-year contract, so there was nothing in there about playing longer than one year. But we'll see how it goes.
"And, you know, obviously you'd love to have success and be healthy and we can start there with health and have some success and enjoy it. You know, make a run. That'd be really special, and then we'll figure that out come next February," he added.
Rodgers did not say anything about returning to the Steelers if he does play another season, but that could definitely be an option since Pittsburgh doesn't have a young quarterback certain to be ready to take over in 2026.
That said, Rodgers' future prospects in Pittsburgh will depend upon the results in 2025.
