Tony Khan Makes Major Change To AEW World Title Cash-Ins

Tony Khan has tweaked an unwritten rule when it comes to AEW World Championship cash-ins.

During the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door post-event media scrum, Khan said cash-ins via Casino Gauntlet contracts will be notified one week in advance.

“I want AEW to be different and I’ve been listening to the feedback and the voice of the fans and I think people want the championships in the sport of pro wrestling to have integrity,” Khan said. “I don’t want to have a big ticket championship match that we are unable to advertise and also I don’t really want to necessarily utilize a stipulation here that’s being utilized other places.

“That’s why going forward, I want to set the tone that from now on I think the right thing to do is all contract executions should be on at least a week’s notice so we can properly promote the matches, so that we can properly give the fans notice and have the integrity of a championship match.” (H/T f4wonline)

Previously, the Casino Gauntlet contracts operated similar to Money in the Bank rules where contenders could cash-in without prior notice. Athena, who won the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at Double or Nothing, executed her contract ahead of time by challenging Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Champion at Forbidden Door.

Men’s Casino Gauntlet winner MJF, on the other hand, talked his way out of executing the contract but still got a shot at “Hangman” Adam Page for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door. Fans can check out everything that went down at the event here.
