Air Jordan 2 MLB ‘Louisville Slugger’ PE Shows Love to an Underrated Retro

The Air Jordan 2 MLB “Louisville Slugger” PE pairs woodgrain overlays with baseball-inspired details, though it remains exclusive to MLB athletes.

Baseball was my first love. It’s the first sport I learned. The first one I knew like the back of my hand and the sport that launched me into this crazy fandom that beget a career as a sportswriter. The game will always have a special place in my heart.

Also, call me crazy, but I love the Jordan 2s. It feels like the most disrespected of all Jordan retros, but it’s one of my favorites. When I saw that Jordan Brand was crafting a Jordan 2 design that pays homage to baseball, it immediately caught my attention. It’s called the Air Jordan 2 MLB ‘Louisville Slugger,’ but unfortunately it seems set to be a PE–at least for now.

Here’s the information.

Air Jordan 2 MLB Louisville Slugger PESolesupreme

The Air Jordan 2 MLB “Louisville Slugger” PE blends basketball heritage with baseball nostalgia in one of Jordan Brand’s most creative cross-sport nods to date. Crafted exclusively for Jordan-sponsored MLB athletes, the design incorporates details directly referencing the iconic wooden bat.

Overlays across the profile carry a woodgrain finish, accented with slightly yellowed aging effects around the collar and forefoot. Black nubuck sections on the toe and tongue add contrast, while red hits tie back to both Jordan Brand and Hillerich & Bradsby, the original Louisville Slugger manufacturer.

Additional storytelling details include “1894” stitched on the heel—the year Louisville Slugger was trademarked—and a lateral ankle tab calling out Louisville, KY. The tongue even features a custom His Heirness & Co. logo, nodding to MJ’s dual legacy in basketball and baseball.

RabaKali has images of this PE that I’m fiending to own.

Although this pair won’t be released to the public, it underscores Jordan Brand’s growing presence in MLB. Following years of player exclusives and collaborations, it’s another reminder of how the Jordan 2, once overlooked, can carry unique themes and storytelling when given the right canvas.

That wood grain look with the black and small pops of red make this one immediately special. It feels like a waste to make this only available to baseball players. This doesn’t feel personal, it feels like a would-be invitation to us all to come and celebrate baseball through Jordan brand. I’d gladly accept the invitation if Jordan Brand extends it.
