The Indiana Fever faced the Connecticut Sun on Sunday and got down early in Game No. 23 without star Caitlin Clark. They were outscored 24-11 in the first quarter and then 24-18 in the second.

But in the second, guard Sophie Cunningham suffered a right knee injury after Sun guard Bria Hartley collided with her near the basket. Cunningham was ruled out for the game, bringing Indiana down its fourth injured guard.

The second half told a different story for the Fever. They outscored the Sun 23-15 in the third quarter and 32-21 in the fourth to erase a 21-point deficit and force overtime. Indiana went on to win 99-93, powered by Kelsey Mitchell’s league- and season-high 38 points. She also scored 10 of the team's 15 points in the overtime period.

Despite sitting back in the locker room in pain, Cunningham took to social media right after the game to shout out Mitchell.

"KELSEY FREAKIN MITCHELL," Cunningham wrote in all capitals.

With the win, the Fever improved to 19-16 on the season. They also snapped their two-game losing streak after losses to the Dallas Wings and the Washington Mystics.

What's Next For Sophie Cunningham?

The extent of Cunningham’s injury is still unclear, as she’ll undergo an MRI on Monday after the team returns to Indianapolis.

If the results aren’t too serious, her next chance to take the court would be Friday in the first of two meetings against the Minnesota Lynx. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
