Fans Said the Same Thing About Stetson Bennett After Rams-Chargers Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Los Angeles Rams backup quarterback Stetson Bennett is a well-known name in the college football world. The former Georgia Bulldogs star has plenty of accolades from his days in Athens. He won back-to-back national titles, led Georgia to a 15-0 record in 2022, and became the first Georgia signal-caller to pass for over 4,000 yards in a single season.
Bennett was also a Heisman Trophy finalist in his final season, finishing at No. 4 behind Caleb Williams, CJ Stroud and Max Duggan.
Bennett was then selected in the fourth round at No. 128 overall by the Rams, and he has been waiting for his chance to shine under the lights on the NFL stage.
The Rams backup has yet to play any snaps in a regular-season game, and with Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo on the roster, it once again might be a lot of clipboard-holding for the ex-Bulldogs QB.
However, Bennett made plenty of waves in Saturday's preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Stetson Bennett Catches Everyone's Attention on Saturday Night
On Saturday, Stafford was nowhere to be seen as he dealt with an aggravated disc in his back. Garoppolo also didn't play in the game, which was to be expected.
As such, it was all Bennett from start to finish.
He went 28-of-40 for 324 yards with three touchdowns and one interception to lead the Rams to a 23-22 win at SoFi Stadium. Bennett also had a 108.8 quarterback rating, so he showed plenty of promise, even if it was just the preseason.
With the Rams trailing in the final seconds, Bennett delivered the game-winning touchdown to Tru Edwards with just five seconds remaining.

As a result, fans shared a similar sentiment about Bennett's performance, and it was overwhelmingly positive.
"Stetson Bennett opening some eyes," one fan wrote. "Stetson Bennett preseason legacy game," another said.
"Rams backup QB Stetson Bennett's played very well today. He's 16/20 for 197 yards and has two touchdowns," USA Today reporter Tyler Dragon wrote.
Fans also stated that Bennett should take the QB1 job if Stafford isn't healthy.
"Just saying this right now if Stetson Bennett takes over the starting job for the Rams. They definitely going to the playoffs. Because the mailman always delivers!" one person said.
"With his performances in the preseason, I know it’s preseason but the uncertainty of Stafford may open the door for Stetson Bennett to open the season if Stafford can go over Jimmy G?" another asked.
"Stetson Bennett might be a better option than matt stafford at this point. another great outing," another stated. "Stetson Bennett QB1, I've seen enough," another said.

A Look Inside the Stafford Drama
With Stafford dealing with an aggravated disc in his back, reports swirled recently that he was going to work out with the team on Saturday.
However, nobody knows if that's the case, as per a report from Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times.
"Asked to confirm whether QB Matthew Stafford worked out as scheduled, a Rams official declined to comment and said coach Sean McVay would address the situation on Monday."
Bennett also refused to answer whether or not Stafford was on the sideline.
“I was so locked in each and every snap. I didn't really look too closely," Bennett said, via Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire.
At this point, nobody knows. But if Stafford has to miss time and Bennett continues to impress, it might be something the Rams could look into to see if the ex-Georgia QB can be used in the future.
