Coaches and players from 28 teams spanning from Delmar to Archmere came to be photographed at Delaware Online Media Days.
When you see players from Delmar on one day and players from Archmere the next day, it’s a safe bet you have the entire state covered.
That was the case Aug. 6 and 7 as a combined 28 field hockey teams came to Delaware Online Football and Field Hockey Media Days. The downstate event was held at Woodbridge High School, followed by the upstate event at Abessinio Stadium the next day.
Players and coaches posed for portraits, answered entertaining questions and enjoyed free breakfast and lunch.
“It’s a really cool experience,” Indian River field hockey player Reece Forrey said at Woodbridge. “I’ve never done a media day or anything like that. It’s really cool to get pictures.”

Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists sponsored both events.
Caruso’s Pizza, which has locations in Georgetown and Selbyville, also sponsored the Woodbridge event and provided lunch.
Bachetti Bros. Meats, Market and Catering in Wilmington also sponsored the Abessinio Stadium event and provided lunch.
“It’s exciting for the kids,” Sussex Central field hockey coach Megan Marvel said. “They like pictures. They’re into social media. So for them to get that attention, I think it’s really great for them.”
Smyrna, last year’s DIAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament runner-up, was among the top teams represented. Coach Loveita Moffett and her daughter, Bree, arrived early at Abessinio Stadium to answer questions from reporter Yan Yan Li for a profile of perhaps the state’s top returning player.
Loveita Moffett enjoyed an All-American career at Michigan, and Bree’s older sister, Dru, plays for the Wolverines now. But Bree has committed to play at Northwestern, Michigan’s Big Ten rival and a perennial national title contender.
Hundreds of photos were taken, and the players’ looks ranged from fierce to bright smiles. It was a great way to catch up with everyone before the season begins.
