Barcelona’s relative overbooking in midfield has opened the doors to transfer links for some players in the department who are relatively lower in the pecking order.
Fermin Lopez was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer but rejected any possibility of a departure to stay at the club and prove his worth to Hansi Flick.
Marc Casado, similarly, has been linked with a potential exit in recent days, given the severe competition for a place in the team’s double pivot.
The 21-year-old’s commitment to the badge and love for the club, however, have largely kept him away from considering any offers so far.
A proposal from England
As relayed by Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian in a recent report, Premier League side West Ham have come in to make an offer for Casado and hope to get him off Barcelona’s hands this summer for a modest fee.
As it stands, however, the chance of their effort succeeding appears very low as the player is not considering an exit.

Further, nothing is known about their financial offer and how it weighs up against Barcelona’s expectations currently.
Yesterday, reports highlighted that Barcelona would not be completely opposed to letting Casado leave, especially if an offer worth over €30 million arrived.
While that sum is indeed a bargain for a player of Casado’s quality, it would appear unlikely for the player to leave Barcelona for West Ham even if that fee is put on the table.
The La Masia graduate is currently behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi on the pecking order in the pivot position and could be even behind Marc Bernal once he returns to the squad.
For now, Casado remains intent on staying, but his future will be an interesting one to follow as the transfer window nears its end.
