The Milwaukee Brewers have solidified themselves as baseball’s best team, owning a 77–44 record, by far the best in all of MLB.

Milwaukee will enter Saturday’s matchup with the Cincinnati Reds with a chance to make history with a 14th consecutive win, which would become a new franchise record. F

riday’s dramatic 10–8 comeback win against Cincinnati marked the team’s 13th straight victory, coming back from a seven-run deficit to tie the franchise’s winning streak record of 13 set almost 40 years ago in 1987.

Despite allowing eight runs yesterday, the Brewers’ pitching staff has been one of the best in MLB, posting a team-wide ERA of 3.63, third in the league.

Brewers Bullpen Loses Reliable Arm

Unfortunately, the team’s come-from-behind win came at the expense of one of their bullpen arms. Left-handed relief pitcher DL Hall felt a tweak on the third-to-last pitch of his outing yesterday, requiring an MRI.

Early Saturday, the Brewers announced that Hall would be placed on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain, and Grant Anderson had been recalled from Triple-A.

Milwaukee’s Pitching Depth Being Tested

Hall had consistently been able to provide the team quality long relief innings in low-leverage spots, eating up innings for other arms in the bullpen. The 26-year-old had been enjoying his best year yet in his fourth season in the big leagues, posting a 3.35 ERA and striking out 27 batters in 19 appearances.

On a more positive note, although rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski struggled yesterday, the return of another starter to the rotation should put less stress on a bullpen that has seemingly lost a reliable arm. With a nine-game lead in the NL Central, Milwaukee will look to remain healthy as they look to capture a fourth division title in five seasons.
