Beal and Wall were a fun duo to watch.
Bradley Beal sends heartfelt message to John Wall after retirement announcement originally appeared on The Sporting News
Sometimes, the most appreciated players in sports are the ones who never got the chance to have a full career play out.
Names like Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas and Brandon Roy are a few that come to mind in the past couple of decades.
These are players who had short primes of incredible basketball, but had major injuries that cut their prime short, not allowing us to see them reach their ceiling.
Another player you can add to that list is John Wall, who officially announced his retirement from basketball and the NBA on Tuesday.
Wall was incredible on his own, but anytime you think of prime John Wall, you probably think about how good a duo he and Bradley Beal were as teammates with the Wizards.
Beal makes social media post after Wall's retirement announcement
Beal and Wall were teammates for seven seasons (healthy seasons).
They quickly became one of the most exciting duos in the NBA to watch and were one of the best backcourts in the league.

Beal went to social media to acknowledge his former teammate's retirement, saying, "Congratulations to my brother @johnwall on retiring from the NBA. Family 4L and one of the most elite, dominant, and game-changing figures the league has ever seen. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and pushing me to be the best I can be. There is no BB without Dub! Thank you, brother! Enjoy the next chapter! #DCbackcourt!"
Wall was an all-star with the Wizards from 2013-14 to 2017-18. He was easily one of the best playmaking guards in the league and was an elite scorer/player around the rim.
Beal didn't get his first all-star nod until the 2017-18 season, making that the only season the two players were all-stars in the same season.
Beal was a fringe all-star for many of the years he was a teammate with Wall, but supported him well as a second option, which was what made their backcourt so lethal.
Washington hasn't been all too competitive in recent years, and in the years before Wall and Beal's time with the team, so the duo was a breath of fresh air for the fans.
As teammates, they made the playoffs four times together, including three ECSF appearances. Before they did it, the team hadn't made it past the first round since the 2005 postseason.
Wall hasn't played in the NBA since 2023, so this wasn't an abrupt decision, but it's still sad to see one of the most underrated guards of his era call it a career.
