UCF freshman running back Taevion “Chick” Swint will miss an extended period after suffering a meniscus injury that required surgery. Head coach Scott Frost announced the news, saying the timetable for Swint’s return is uncertain.
UCF will be without one of its most promising young players for the foreseeable future.
Head coach Scott Frost announced Monday that freshman running back Taevion Swint is out indefinitely after suffering a meniscus injury that required surgery. The injury occurred during practice on Aug. 6.
“Yeah, I feel bad for Chick,” Frost said. “It was kind of a non-contact thing, and we didn’t know what it was (at first). He got a meniscus and had to have surgery on it, so we’re trying to see right now how long that’s going to keep him out.
“We’re not going to have him for a while. Great guy, cares a lot, and was doing some really good things, so we look forward to getting him back whenever that is.”
Swint had been one of the early standouts in preseason camp, working to establish a role behind top backs Myles Montgomery and Jaden Nixon.
A consensus four-star recruit from Kissimmee-Osceola, Swint left high school as one of Florida’s most productive rushers. He amassed more than 4,500 yards in his career, including 1,778 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior in 2024. He helped lead Osceola to the state championship game while averaging more than 10.5 yards per carry.
