The super senior era is almost finished in college football as the players who were on rosters during the COVID-shortened 2020 season are almost all out of college football. Class of 2020 signees still have one more full year left. A former Kentucky quarterback is taking advantage of that year.
Deuce Hogan will spend his sixth season of college football at Nicholls.
Deuce Hogan started his college football career at Iowa and spent two years in the Big Ten. Following the 2021 season, Hogan entered the transfer portal and landed at Kentucky shortly after the Wildcats knocked off the Hawkeyes in the Citrus Bowl. Hogan served as a backup quarterback in Lexington for two seasons playing for Rich Scangarello and Liam Coen. The multi-time transfer then moved to Conference USA in 2024 to play for New Mexico State. Hogan was teammates with current Kentucky players Seth McGowan and Shiyazh Pete in Las Cruces. The quarterback appeared in just two games last fall for the Aggies before suffering a broken collarbone injury that ended his season prematurely. Hogan entered the transfer portal again and landed at Nicholls.
Nicholls is an FCS program in Louisiana. The Colonels have made seven playoff appearances in their history. Tommy Rybacki is entering his first season as the head coach in Thibodeaux and Deuce Hogan is the expected starting quarterback. The program will open the season with a home game against Incarnate Word in Week Zero. ESPN2 will have the broadcast at Noon ET/11:00 a.m. CT. Hogan’s new team will get some air time when the college football season begins this weekend.
