According to reports in Türkiye, Union Berlin are set to beat other Bundesliga rivals to the signing of Derrick Köhn from Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old Hamburg native is no stranger to the Bundesliga, having spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen.
Following his loan spell, Bremen were interested in signing Köhn on a permanent deal. However, the Northerns now appear to be out of the race.
These reports have also been backed by Florian Plettenberg, who confirmed that Union Berlin are currently in advanced talks with Galatasaray regarding Köhn, with a transfer fee of around €5m being touted.
It’s also believed that the Turkish side will have a 20% sell-on clause within the deal.
Newly-promoted FC Köln were also interested in Köhn, but have opted to loan Kristoffer Lund from Palermo instead.
Union Berlin kickstart their Bundesliga campaign at home to VfB Stuttgart this weekend, but it’s unclear whether Köhn will be available in time.
