Pundit Gary Neville claims that Chelsea are not ready yet and they are lacking the spine compared to other top clubs around them.
It comes off the back of Chelsea only managing a 0-0 draw at home with Crystal Palace on the opening game of the new Premier League season yesterday afternoon.
Sources: New CB latest, GK position, Xavi Simons, Alejandro Garnacho, & Chelsea have a false start on the opening day
Chelsea were actually quite lucky to not lose the game because VAR ruled out a fantastic Eberechi Eze free kick that Robert Sanchez should have absolutely done better with.
The Blues had chances of their own of course as well and Brazilian Andrey Santos fired over from close range after coming on as a second half sub to try and make a difference for Chelsea.
It wasn’t the great start for Enzo Maresca’s side but like Cole Palmer said after the game, it’s a marathon and not a sprint.
Neville not impressed
Gary Neville on the touchline at Chelsea.
Gary Neville doesn’t need an excuse to criticise Chelsea and will take any opportunity to do so, as he has now after the game on his own Podcast.
Neville said:
“I think Chelsea will have a very good season but you’re not looking at Joao Pedro and Delap in the same light as Arsenal’s front line or Haaland or Liverpool, the spine is also not there, they’re not ready, we’re not just saying that because of today, because they’ve drawn against a very good side in Crystal Palace.”
I do think Chelsea need more
If they can et Xavi Simons done that will be a big help, but I actually do think this squad is still lacking a bit. My concern is more at the back though with the goalkeeper and Levi Colwill’s injury. But the attack has question marks too.
