Cameron Brink has played in seven games since her return from a year-long injury absence. The Los Angeles Sparks forward underwent surgery to repair an ACL tear during her rookie year last season, and it wasn’t until July 29 that she was finally able to make her long-awaited comeback.

Brink, however, suffered an injury scare on Tuesday in a loss against the defending champions New York Liberty. The former Stanford star played just five minutes and was not able to return in the second half due to an ankle issue.

The good news for L.A. is that Brink was able to practice on Thursday ahead of their upcoming matchup against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday. It appears that the team liked what they saw from the 23-year-old in practice, deciding to leave her off the injury report for Friday’s game.

According to Ira Gorawara of the Los Angeles Times, Brink has been cleared to play against Dallas, but she will still be on a minutes restriction as she continues to work on her conditioning.

In the seven games she’s played thus far, Brink has averaged 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in just 12.9 minutes per contest. It should only be a matter of time before she’s ready to take on a full workload, but Brink will need to avoid any injury setbacks from here on out.

The Sparks, who have won seven out of their last 10 games, are currently ninth in the WNBA with a 15-17 record. They are just half a game behind the Seattle Storm for the eighth and final playoff spot in the league.

Brink’s eventual return to form could be the spark L.A. needs as it makes a push for the postseason.
