Madagascar secured their place in the African Nations championship CHAN PAMOJA 2024 quarter finals with hard fought 2 - 1 victory over Burkina Faso on Saturday night at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

Knowing that only victory would be enough Madagascar struck first through Fenohasina Razafimaro’s stunning long range effort in the 7 minute.

Burkina Faso restore pride equalised midway through the 1st half when Souleymane Sangare headed home Hanaby Sagne’s cross in the 25 minute.

The 58 minute, Lalaina Rafanomezantsoa converted from the penalty spot after Sagne’s rash challenge inside the box. His powerful strike proved to be the winner.

• Tanzania finished top with 10 point after goalless draw against the Central African Republic in Dar es Salaam.
• Madagascar advanced as runners up with 7 point edging out Mauritania on goal difference.
• Mauritania despite also finishing on 7 point were eliminated.
• Burkina Faso and CAR both bowed out
