After weeks of waiting, the Cleveland Browns finally found out the fate of rookie running back Quinshon Judkins' legal troubles.

When the Cleveland Browns drafted former Ohio State star Quinshon Judkins with the fourth pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft back in April, the plan was likely for him to succeed Nick Chubb as the team’s full-time starting running back.
But those plans were temporarily put on hold when Judkins was arrested on charges of domestic violence and battery back on July 12 in Fort Lauderdale, according to ESPN.
Arrest records indicated that the 21-year-old tailback was accused of punching a woman in the mouth, arm, and leg. The woman allegedly waited five days before contacting police about the incident because she “felt bad due to Judkins’ recent success,” according to the police report.
Judkins waived his right to a speedy trial on Thursday morning, according to Cleveland.com, and while his NFL career hung in the balance, prosecutors decided not to move forward with the case, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
“Sources: #Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins will not face any formal charges, as prosecutors have declined to move forward with the case,” Schultz wrote on X. “This clears the way for him to return to the team, and I’m told that should likely happen in the near future.”

Judkins has yet to sign his rookie contract, but now that his legal trouble is behind him, he’s expected to put pen to paper and report to training camp in the coming days.
The Ohio State alum, who’s fresh off winning the College Football Playoff National Championship with the Buckeyes earlier this year, totaled 3,785 yards rushing and 45 touchdowns plus 59 receptions, 442 yards receiving, and five touchdowns in three seasons with OSU and Ole Miss.
Once signed, Judkins will presumably compete for Cleveland’s starting RB job along with fellow rookie Dylan Sampson, who totaled 1,491 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns with the Tennessee Volunteers in 2024, and incumbent starter Jerome Ford, who led the Browns with 565 yards rushing and three touchdowns last season.
