A lot is riding on Jayden Quaintance‘s knee, aside from his 230-pound body. That surgically mended ACL tendon of his is also holding up a good chunk of hopes and dreams across Big Blue Nation, folks who are yearning for National Title number nine. Kentucky’s high ceiling isn’t completely lowered without him, but having a top-five pick in next year’s NBA draft anchoring the frontcourt would sure help.

Mark Pope gave an update on JQ’s rehab progress during his discussion with Matt Norlander last week, giving a firm “maybe-ish” on the possibility of his return by the start of the season. As noncommital as that statement might be, Pope had a positive outlook that we’ll see the five-star big man sooner rather than later.

Quaintance posted a video on his Instagram story that shows a glimpse of what his rehab progress looks like, and I’ve never been more enamored watching someone do the most basic of exercises.

X is being weird (thanks, Elon) and not letting me embed the video within this post, but KSR’s Jack Pilgrim busted out the handy screen record function to preserve the video for all to see:

Watch it here.

If you’re too lazy to click the link yet somehow still reading, the video shows Quaintance, with no knee brace, jumping off an 18-inch block and landing solidly with both feet a few times. It then flashes to Quaintance rapidly jumping up and down on his tiptoes, and it concludes with him marching North Korea military style, putting full weight on his knee.

Images surfaced a few weeks ago showing Quaintance dunking a basketball in slides, which generated a mix of nervousness and excitement, but this social media post should make BBN feel much more optimistic.
