Angel Reese has made a remarkable leap in her second WNBA season. The Chicago Sky forward earned All-Star honors for the second straight year and broke multiple league records, including becoming the fastest player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds. She also recorded one of the youngest triple-doubles in league history and continues displaying her impressive ability to tally double-doubles.

However, a back injury has sidelined her since July, forcing her to miss six straight games and nine total this season. Her absence has further disrupted the Sky’s hopes at a time when they are fighting to stay competitive in a challenging year.

Angel Reese and Reebok Announce New Release

While sidelined, Reese continues to thrive off the court—most notably with a major announcement alongside Reebok. On Thursday, she revealed her signature shoe, the Angel Reese 1, is set for release on September 18, 2025. Alongside Reebok, Reese announced the news via a joint post on Instagram from her personal account:

“The Angel Reese 1: Diamond Dust. Made for the spotlight. Available on 9/18.”

The debut line features three colorways: “Diamond Dust,” “Receipts Ready,” and the pink-themed “Mebounds,” a nod to her viral rebounding dominance (h/t Elle). Reese becomes only the second WNBA player to have a signature Reebok shoe, following Rebecca Lobo in 1997.

Her partnership with Reebok began in 2023 with an NIL deal and evolved into a multi-year agreement that included this landmark sneaker launch.

Along with the shoes, Reese will release an apparel collection that reflects her bold style and competitive edge. The project is also tied to her advocacy work, including her foundation’s efforts to combat cyberbullying.

Angel Reese Remains Day-to-Day, Per Chicago Sky Coach

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh confirmed that Reese remains positive and wants to compete, but there is still no set return date, stressing that her recovery comes first. He also adressed rumors that the Sky plan to shut her down for the season, noting that it is up to the medical staff to make that decision. However, he emphasized her competitive spirit as she continues to work toward full recovery.

Her absence has hit at a critical time: Chicago holds an 8-24 record, sits fifth in the Eastern Conference, and is well outside the playoff picture. The Sky endured an eight-game losing streak without her, struggling to find consistent scoring and leadership.

So far this season, Reese has averaged 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 23 games, leading the league in rebounds per game.
