Alabama received a major blow when it was revealed that leading rusher Jam Miller will not play in the Florida State game and possibly longer due to an upper-body injury.
Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer released this statement:
“Jam Miller suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday’s scrimmage and went in for a procedure on Saturday evening. Jam should recover fully with a timetable for his return yet to be determined.”
DeBoer had mentioned after Saturday's scrimmage that a few of his players were “beatup” but he never mentioned Miller as one of the players who were out.
According to reports from fall camp, the running back was having an outstanding camp and was leading the core of very talented running backs in the Tide’s backfield.
So if Miller is not back in time for the Florida State game, who’s next in line?
Daniel Hill is a name some fans may not be familiar with but coaches seem to be high on his running and blocking ability. Richard Young, who played some last year during mop up games is another possibility and Andre Washington the transfer out of Louisiana who has the most experience out of the names that were mentioned.
Still, missing Miller is a huge blow and although the good news is he is expected to make a full recovery and come back at some point during the season, this is not the news Tide fans wanted to hear coming into the season opening in two weeks.
