The Chicago Sky have struggled with the loss of Angel Reese.

Chicago has been playing without Reese since late July because of back issues. Her last game appearance was July 29 against Washington. While she found success under coach Tyler Marsh this year, the injury setback has significantly curtailed Reese's second season.

Ahead of the Sky's game against the Connecticut Sun, Marsh was asked if there had been discussions about shutting Reese down for the rest of the season given how far out of a playoff spot but how close to the No. 1 pick in next year's draft the team is with a dozen games remaining.

"I’d leave that to the medical staff," Marsh said. "For us and for Angel, if she’s healthy and she wants to play and we want her to be out there, to be able to play. We don’t want to put her in harm's way to further any existing injuries. For us it’s just making sure that she’s as healthy as possible. That’s always been the most important thing. With the games remaining when she’s ready to go then she will be out there."

Angel Reese made the All-Star team for the second straight year and continued to establish herself as one of the best forwards in the WNBA. She is widely regarded as the most versatile player on the Chicago Sky roster.

Throughout her second season in the WNBA, Reese has averaged 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for the Chicago Sky. Reese was averaging a double-double and poised for her second straight season accomplishing that feat.
