Texas is in hot pursuit.

The Texas Longhorns are attempting to win the race for one of the top prospects at his position in the 2027 class.

Four-star tight end Brock Williams is who the Longhorns have their eye on, but other schools are doing the same thing. Rivals' Greg Smith predicted that Williams would choose the Georgia Bulldogs, but named the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas as the biggest threats to Georgia.

Williams hails from Libertyville, Illinois, and is listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds.

His list of offers also includes the likes of the Michigan State Spartans, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kentucky Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils.

He is the No. 2 tight end and No. 45 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the class.

The Longhorns have yet to visit with Williams, while Georgia has already done so twice. The Bulldogs have proven to develop tight ends, recently sending Brock Bowers to the NFL. Bowers now plays for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Texas is no slouch in that area, however, sending Gunnar Helm to the next level. The Tennessee Titans took Helm in the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished second (786) on Texas in receiving yards behind wideout Matthew Golden.

While the Longhorns are making a push for Williams, they are also trying to fend off other programs attempting to flip their commits. The Miami Hurricanes are heavily pursuing Texas running back Derrek Cooper, the No. 2 running back in the 2026 class.

The LSU Tigers are also trying to maintain a relationship with longtime Texas commit and five-star quarterback Dia Bell.

Recruiting in the era of NIL and the transfer portal is no easy task.
