Despite persistent rumors linking him with a move, especially to Manchester United, Carlos Baleba is now expected to remain at Brighton.
The Cameroonian midfielder looks set for a third consecutive season with the Seagulls after transfer talks with the Red Devils broke down.
During the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Fulham, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler expressed his confidence about his protégé's future.
When asked about the subject, the German coach replied, "I'm very confident. He's a very good player. He's happy to be here. Baleba could even start this Saturday."
This statement quashes any lingering rumors about the 21-year-old's departure, who is under contract until June 2028.
The Douala native has made 71 appearances (4 goals, 2 assists) since arriving in England from Lille in July 2023.
