Chelsea remain in talks with Bayern Munich over a move for Christopher Nkunku , and are expecting €40m plus add ons according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig back in 2023 in a deal worth £52m, but he’s had a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, and it appears his career with the Blues is now over.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap, with Chelsea also looking to sign Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
Chelsea expecting €40m plus add ons for Nkunku
Nkunku holds the key to Chelsea being able to press forward and close a deal for Simons as they need to free up space in the squad.
The Frenchman is attracting interest from a number of clubs, and the most recent to express interest were Inter Milan.

However, it’s been reported Bayern Munich have now stepped up their pursuit of Nkunku, although it’s thought their preference is a loan with an option to buy.
Chelsea have made their stance clear that they only want a permanent sale, and Plettenberg has now provided an update on the situation.
He took to X.com and said:
“FC Bayern and Chelsea remain in talks over a potential deal for Christopher #Nkunku.
“There is still work to be done, and it remains uncertain whether a deal will go through. However, personal terms are not an issue – Nkunku is keen to join Bayern.
“The key factor is an agreement between the clubs and finding the right structure for the deal. It is understood that Chelsea are currently expecting €40 million plus add-ons. #CFC”
Chelsea still working on Xavi Simons
Whilst Bayern have stepped up their interest in Nkunku, Chelsea are still working on a deal for Simons, and need Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson to leave to create space in the squad for the 22-year-old.

Chelsea have been locked in negotiations with Leipzig for the past few weeks, although no official bid has been sent yet.
Leipzig are said to want a total package of £60m, whilst the Blues are hopeful of agreeing a fee of around £50m, and the idea of including Nkunku in the deal was also floated.
