The Venmo history of OklahomaQB John Mateer quickly became a big story this week in college football. However, Brent Venables was the latest to reiterate that those transactions were nothing.
Venables addressed Mateer’s situation from the past few days while with the media on Friday. He said his quarterback has “moved on”, while understanding the seriousness of what could’ve been here, based on the work by him and those involved to clear the whole thing up.
“I don’t want to speak for him, but in his mind, there was nothing to be seen here,” Venables said this afternoon, per Mason Young at ‘Tulsa World’. “Grateful that the powers at be got us to a really great place.”
“I think he recognizes… the enormity of what the implications could have been had he not followed NCAA rules years ago,” said Venables. “He’s moved on.”
