OGC Nice have completed the signing of Salis Abdul Samed. The midfielder has joined from Ligue 1 rivals RC Lens.
Abdul Samed was one of the key figures in the Lens side that finished second under Franck Haise two seasons ago. However, the following season, he was used more sparingly and last season, he was on loan at Sunderland. The Ghana international contended with injuries during his time at the Stadium of Light. Those injuries limited him to just three league starts. Despite promotion to the Premier League, the midfielder was not retained.
However, upon his return to Lens, it was clear that he had no future at the club. Having attracted interest from Turkey earlier in the window, Abdul Samed has opted to remain in Ligue 1. Nice have not revealed the fee, nor the length of the contract offered to the midfielder. L’Équipe believe that he has signed for three years, with the fee thought to be around €2m.
