Behind Enemy Lines: Get the inside scoop on Seattle before the Chiefs face the Seahawks

Get the inside scoop on Seattle before the Chiefs face the Seahawks in this Q&A with Kole Musgrove of Seahawks Wire.

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason after losing to the Arizona Cardinals on August 9.

While preseason exhibitions are usually considered to be inconsequential, Kansas City's matchup against Seattle should prove to be an exciting affair, with up-and-coming talents from both teams set to see extended action throughout the game.

Before the contest kicks off, we went behind enemy lines to sit down with Kole Musgrove of Seahawks Wire to get the inside scoop on Seattle.

Take a look at Musgrove's responses to our questions below:

Will Sam Darnold be able to deliver Seattle a winning season?

"The Seahawks have finished the last three seasons with nine wins, nine wins, and ten wins. Before that,in 2021, it was seven wins, but Russell Wilson was injured and missed three games. Can Darnold continue with this consistency? Absolutely. He will not be the focal point of the offense, which will be run-first… and probably run-second, third, and fourth. Sam will likely be the 'point guard' when it comes to distributing the ball to playmakers when needed. If Sam can replicate similar success to what Geno Smith has had in the last few years, winning at least nine games is absolutely on the table."

Which players were training camp standouts for the Seahawks?

"Rookie wide receiver Tory Horton is making the argument he should be considered an early steal from the 2025 NFL draft. An injury sankhis draft stock, but hehas been showing off big-time in camp and even in the first game against the Raiders. Seattle has an obvious window of opportunity for a receiver to step up and fill the shoes left by DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Horton may very well be a strong candidate to do so."

How long do you expect Seattle’s starters to play tonight?

"Mike Macdonald has indicated he plans to have the first team offense out there. We only have one year of evidence about how he has a head coach handles having his starters in. Last season, Geno Smith and the No. 1’s played for only one drive in only one game (Week 3). With Sam being brand new to the team, and a new system with Klint Kubiak as OC, I suspect we’ll see the starters for at least the first half."

What's your record prediction for the Seahawks’ 2025 campaign?

"I’m actually rather bullish on the Seahawks in 2025, and I think they are going to surprise a lot of folks out there. Every time the national media tries to ignore the Seahawks or downplay what they think their record will be, Seattle often finds a way to defy the 'odds.' I have the Seahawks going 12-5 this year."
