The clock is ticking.
Cowboys' Jerry Jones reveals deadline for signing Micah Parsons to a new contract originally appeared on The Sporting News
Micah Parsons is a name that Cowboys fans will have on their mind day in and day out until something new happens.
Dallas owner Jerry Jones knows it, and he'll certainly be asked about it every time he talks to reporters.
On Wednesday, Jones provided some clarity, except not really.
He spoke about the idea of a deadline for getting Parsons' extension done. One problem: He's not setting a deadline.
“No, not at all,” Jones said Wednesday. “You don’t have deadlines when you’re playing under a contract.”

On the one hand, Jones has a point. Parsons is under contract to play this season. His deal isn't up until the end of the campaign.
On the other hand, this is something that will hang over the Cowboys until a deal gets done. That's not ideal, either, especially if it means the superstar edge rusher is on the sideline rather than on the field.
Jones wouldn't give any idea to whether conversations about a contract will even pick up in the days ahead.
“We might or might not talk,” Jones said. “The rest gets into what we do every day.”

Jones then went into his thoughts on contracts in general.
“Again, all you’ve got to go on are contracts,” Jones said. “We are negotiating for a contract. When you do a contract, you would hope that after a negotiation that’s what both the team and player look to to see what our obligations are. I have a lot of respect for a contract.”
Jones is grateful that Parsons is holding-in, rather than away from the team.
“I’m glad he’s been here,” Jones said. “It’s important for the team, teammates. It’s important for him to pick up all the coaching and the nuances. Osmosis is a very big thing, and he’s been here and been a part of that.”
Now, the football world waits.
