We have just 18 days until Purdue Football kicks off against the Ball State Cardinals in what is an anticipated debut of new Head Coach Barry Odom and a roster that may have the most newcomers of any P5 roster this season. Today’s players feature Quarterback Bennett Meredith and Defensive Lineman Demeco Kennedy.
Bennett Meredith is a transfer from Arizona State who had limited opportunities throughout his career at Purdue to take the reins as the designated starter. He has appeared in only three games and completed 7 of 11 passes for 43 yards and no touchdowns. With the influx of talent at that position, Meredith has been relegated to scout team quarterback who will not see any time this season in any capacity. He is unlikely to see any major playing time during the 2025 season.
On the other side of the ball, defensive lineman Demeco Kennedy is ready to take a major step forward in his second year with the Boilers. Kennedy, as a true freshman, appeared in 9 games where he recorded 6 total tackles. At 6’4 and 305 pounds, Kennedy is one of the bigger bodies on the defensive line and that will come in handy as Purdue lost a great deal of their top end talent to the transfer portal. Kennedy will likely be a starter from day 1 under Barry Odom.
