ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed that multiple teams ar keeping tabs on a potential trade for Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill.
Several NFL Teams Interested in Tyreek Hill Trade, Says NFL Insider originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has taken fans on quite the ride over the last seven months.
The 31-year-old wideout all but told reporters that he wanted out of Miami following the Dolphins’ 32-20 loss to the New York Jets in Week 18 (Hill had just two catches for 20 yards in that game).
“This is my first time I haven't been in the playoffs,” Hill said. “I mean, for me, like I said, I just got to do what's best for me and my family. If that's here, that's wherever the case may be. I'm [fixing to] open that door for myself. I’m opening the door. I’m out bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
Hill was even accused by head coach Mike McDaniel of quitting on his teammates after he refused to go back in the game later in the fourth quarter despite not being injured.
The eight-time Pro Bowler has since had a change of heart, reportedly making amends with McDaniel and the Dolphins, stating he wanted to show a more mature version of himself next season.
But despite Hill’s newfound commitment to Miami, and the team’s insistence that it’s not trading him, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed that multiple teams are monitoring Hill’s situation just in case he finds himself on the trade block.
“I have talked to a few teams who are at least monitoring his future a little bit,” Fowler revealed on “SportsCenter” on Sunday. “Could he be a potential trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, ‘No, we're not trading Tyreek Hill.’ But they just wonder, is he going to be available?
“It could be wishful thinking, maybe they want him to be available. But he's a player, when I bring up to teams, ‘Hey, who is sort of a trade target you're watching?’ — they bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we'll see. He's a big option for Tua (Tagovailoa), that would be a major move if they did move away from him.”
Despite Hill seemingly squashing his desire to be traded elsewhere, his teammates seemingly haven’t forgotten his antics at the end of the season — or what he said about leaving.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa even called him out last month as the team reported for training camp, admitting Hill has a lot of relationships to mend.
“It's not just with me; it's with a lot of the guys,” Tagovailoa said, via NFL.com. “I'm not the only one that heard that. You guys aren't the only people who heard that. A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek, that are fans of his.
“Everyone has seen that. So when you say something like that, you don't just come back that with, 'Hey, my bad.' You've got to work that relationship up. You've got to build everything up again.”
