Rasmus Hojlund now looks nailed on to return to Serie A after attracting five suitors in the final weeks of the transfer window.
The Manchester United frontman is having to come to terms with the fact that he has essentially no future at Old Trafford following the arrival of like-for-like replacement Benjamin Sesko.
Even though Hojlund is desperate to stay and fight for a starting spot under Ruben Amorim, it’s been made clear to him in recent days that he would not be playing a prominent role if he rebuffs a summer move and spends the 2025/2026 campaign at the club.

The situation panning out so publicly has allowed other sides to register their interest, though.
AC Milan have been deemed frontrunners in the race for his signature, as they look to secure a loan deal with the option of signing him permanently next year.
Now, according to iPaper Sport, Serie A champions Napoli have also begun sizing up a swoop, along with Inter Milan, AS Roma and Juventus, the latter of which have been heavily linked with another United outcast in the form of Jadon Sancho.
Each of the Italian outfits has been in touch with Hojlund’s representatives, so he could well have his pick of the bunch in the coming days.
United set cut-price valuation of Hojlund
Pete Hall’s report adds that a bid in the region of £30-40 million would be considered enough for United to cut ties with a player they forked out £64 million for back in 2023 – whilst pledging an additional £8m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old is viewed as the ‘perfect central option’ for Milan, who are having to undergo a rebuild of their own in the aftermath of a lacklustre term on all fronts. They, like United, failed to secure European qualification last season, finishing eighth-placed in the division.
Hojlund spent one campaign in Italy with Atalanta in 2022/2023, returning nine goals in 32 appearances.
