Shedeur Sanders made headlines after confronting local Cleveland radio host Tony Grossi after Friday’s preseason win against the Carolina Panthers. Now Colin Cowherd has something to say about it.

Grossi had reportedly been critical of Sanders leading up to the game. So after an impressive debut, Sanders found Grossi in the tunnel. The The interaction between Grossi and the rookie Browns QB was caught by Well Off Media, run by Deion Sanders Jr.

Cowherd caught wind of the video, in which Sanders tells Grossi that he hopes he has something positive to say about him after the game. The FOX Sports radio host called out the QB on his show Monday.

“There is a video, and it’s not hostile, of Shedeur Sanders, making a point after his first preseason game, of finding a very popular local guy. Tony Grossi. He’s a talk show host, very popular guy,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “I don’t listen to a lot of Cleveland radio, but I know who he is. Very, very popular. And again, it’s not ugly. And I do think Shedeur is a good kid. I question his judgment and maturity. But they kind of laugh in the end. It’s fine. But this thing is like, Shedeur, what are you doing? Get out of there. I don’t want you watching Tony Grossi TikTok clips.”

With injuries to rookie Dillon Gabriel and veteran Kenny Pickett, Sanders got his shot to start. Joe Flacco, the projected starter for the regular season, was given a rest day.

In the 30-10 win, Sanders went 14-of-23 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Ahead of the game, there were reports that Sanders hadn’t received first-team reps at practice and had been forced to throw against equipment staff members at training camp.

Shedeur Sanders was projected as a first-round pick but fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s faced a lot of critics before even making his NFL debut on Friday, so perhaps some of that frustration boiled over to Grossi.

But either way, Cowherd still believed in the young QB’s ability. Perhaps he can work his way up the depth chart with more preseason performances like we saw against the Panthers.

“I think his traits, the arm, the size, the mobility, they are all to be a mid-tier NFL quarterback,” Cowherd said. “Dak Prescott level. I think he throws a better ball than Dak. But he’s not great at them. He’s not Cam (Newton), he’s not Big Ben, he’s not Josh Allen, he’s not (Patrick) Mahomes, he’s not (Matthew) Stafford. So he’s gonna have to be better in the other 30 to 40 percent of quarterback play, which is maturity, focus, IQ, film study, pre-snap excellence.

“By the way, Tom Brady’s traits, doesn’t move at all, doesn’t have a huge arm. Tom is the best ever at the other stuff. Dak Prescott is a C+ throwing the ball in the pocket downfield guy. Dan Mullen, his college coach said that. But Dak is A+++ leadership, IQ, at the podium, film study, pre-snap. Dak is great. If you are not outstanding at the trait stuff. And I like Shedeur, but he is not. I do think his accuracy is an excellent trait. I’ll even argue with Greg Cosell, I think he throws a beautiful, catchable ball. He’s an easy thrower. He’s not Deion, but he moves well. Shedeur had a good game.”
