Security Confronts Fan Over Caitlin Clark Item During Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Still recovering from a groin injury, Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for the 10th straight game as the Indiana Fever host the Chicago Sky on Saturday.

The Fever had a poor ending to their four-game West Coast road trip, falling to the Phoenix Mercury by 35 points on Thursday. To make matters worse, backup point guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald suffered season-ending injuries.

While Indiana suffered its 14th loss of the season against Phoenix, a fan in attendance at PHX Arena may have suffered a bit more.

Security Called on WNBA Fan Over a Clark Flag

In the closing minutes of the third quarter, the Mercury held a 21-point lead and had the game ultimately sealed. However, a Fever fan in the crowd was seen waving a large pink American flag with Clark's photo printed on the front.

A few moments later, security was seen talking to the same fan in the blue shirt, but he was no longer waving the flag around. Instead, it was balled up, and one of the security guards attempted to take it away.

Why Was the Flag Taken?

Security may have had to confiscate the fan's flag, not because of it featuring Clark, but because of the size. At PHX Arena, "banners and signs" can not exceed 18 inches by 24 inches. In fact, PHX Arena doesn't allow them to be displayed during the game due to "sight restrictions."

While flags may be permitted at PHX Arena, there are still numerous items that fans are not allowed to bring, including:

  • Backpacks
  • Laser Pointers
  • Whistles/horns
  • Computers/Laptops
  • Bottles/Cans
  • Selfie Sticks

The Fever will be very shorthanded for Saturday's game against the Sky, not having any available point guards. With McDonald and Colson out for the season, we can expect Indiana to add a player in the near future.
