The odds for who will stand above the field as the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series champion have been updated following this past weekend’s race at Watkins Glen. Shane van Gisbergen was victorious on a road course once again, winning his fourth race of the season.
Now, the Cup Series will return to Virginia, heading to Richmond Raceway. Last season, Austin Dillon was victorious during the summer trip to the track, but his playoff eligibility was taken away due to him wrecking Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin to get to Victory Lane.
With that in mind, BetMGM Sportsbook has released its updated betting lines for which driver will stand above all at the end of the year as champion after all of the action in New York. Here’s where each wheelman stands entering Richmond this coming weekend.
Kyle Larson (+375)
A brutal finish for Kyle Larson. The Hendrick Motorsports star finished dead-last at Watkins Glen, after dealing with some brake issues.
This weekend will mark the 21st time Larson will drive in the Cup Series at Richmond. He’s won at the track in the past, in 2017 and 2023, so he’ll be looking for his third victory on Saturday. We’ll see if he can bounce back.
Christopher Bell (+450)
Christopher Bell was the best of the rest after Shane van Gisbergen at Watkins Glen. He finished as the runner-up during this past weekend’s race in New York.
This will be Bell’s tenth start at Richmond. He’s never won at the track in the Cup Series, but he did finish as the runner-up in 2022. Maybe he’ll break through the glass ceiling and win this time around.
Denny Hamlin (+450)
Denny Hamlin had an afternoon to forget at Watkins Glen. He couldn’t overcome the competition, finishing P25 during his latest trip to the road course.
This will be the 37th time Hamlin has raced in the Cup Series at Richmond. It’s been one of his best tracks, as he has five victories at the track. Perhaps No. 6 is on the docket for this weekend, after he came close in 2024.
William Byron (+600)
William Byron couldn’t go back-to-back after winning the week prior to Watkins Glen in Iowa. However, he’ll take a fourth-place finish, as he continues his hot streak.
Bryon’s never won at Richmond in 13 tries. His best finish of P3 came in 2022 though, and he’s steadily improved at Richmond each season. Maybe he’ll add a new trophy to his collection on Saturday.
Ryan Blaney (+650)
Ryan Blaney was racing near the front all afternoon, but he couldn’t get to Shane van Gisbergen. In the end, the Team Penske wheelman finished P6 when the checkered flag waved, not too shabby.
As Blaney suits up at Richmond for the 18th time, he’s never had much success at the track. He only has one top ten, with a best finish of P7. He’ll be hoping for wholesale changes this weekend.
Chase Elliott (+800)
Chase Elliott usually loves Watkins Glen. That wasn’t the case in 2025. He finished P26 and dealt with trouble throughout the afternoon in New York.
Elliott’s never won at Richmond in 17 tries, so perhaps No. 18 will be the lucky one. He does have a runner-up finish though, and he generally runs well at the track, so there’s some reason to think he’ll exceed expectations.
Chase Briscoe (+1200)
Chase Briscoe continues to have an awesome summer. He’s rounding into form, notching another top five finish at Watkins Glen.
This will be Briscoe’s ninth race at Richmond in the Cup Series. Over that time, his best finish is P11. He’s never notched a top ten, but he’s running so good at the moment that it’s tough to bet against him.
Tyler Reddick (+1600)
Tyler Reddick didn’t have his best ride at Watkins Glen, but he still notched a top ten finish at P9. That’s huge for the No. 45 Toyota team, as they don’t have a win at the moment.
Last year, Reddick finished third at Richmond, his best finish in the Cup Series at the track. This will be his tenth trip to the venue. Maybe he figured something out that he can use in 2025.
