Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with Manchester City over the potential signing of Brazilian winger Savinho, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old is believed to be open to the move if the two clubs can agree on a fee.

Savinho only joined City from Troyes in July 2024 in a deal worth around €40 million. Prior to that, he spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Girona, where he registered nine goals and ten assists in 41 appearances.

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, he has featured 48 times in all competitions, contributing three goals and 13 assists. His pace, dribbling ability, and versatility have drawn praise, with former City teammate Kevin De Bruyne describing him as ‘exceptional.’

Tottenham’s interest has been fuelled by a series of setbacks in attack. Captain Son Heung-min departed for LAFC last week, while playmaker James Maddison is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury.

New manager Thomas Frank is keen to add both creativity and depth, and Savinho’s ability to operate on either wing or in a central attacking role makes him a strong candidate.

City are not actively looking to sell, but intermediaries are understood to have put Savinho’s name forward to Spurs.

Sources close to the north London club suggest there is genuine admiration for the player, though any move will depend on Manchester City’s willingness to negotiate.

Statistically, Savinho compares favourably to Maddison in terms of creativity. In the Premier League last season, he provided eight assists in 29 appearances and created 45 chances, slightly surpassing Maddison’s 40 chances in 31 games.

There is, however, debate over whether Tottenham need another wide player. The club already have Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Mathys Tel as options in the forward areas.

If Tottenham do proceed, the deal could represent both a short-term boost and a long-term investment. At 21, Savinho has room to develop further, and his adaptability would offer Frank tactical flexibility.

Whether City allow him to leave remains the biggest question, but with talks underway, Tottenham appear ready to move quickly if an opportunity arises.
