Koni De Winter to replace Malick Thiaw at Milan

Having sold Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United for about €40m earlier this week, Milan have moved quickly to secure a replacement. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri have signed Koni De Winter from Genoa. This deal has seemingly cost Milan somewhere around €20m. This is a positive move from Milan as they have moved quickly to sign a replacement given that the Serie A begins soon. It has been reported earlier that city rivals Inter were looking to sign the defender but needed someone to leave for it to happen. De Winter at 23, is already a senior Belgium international and has built up significant experience in Serie A over the last few seasons. He came through the Juventus youth system but barely got a chance for the Bianconeri. He is expected to have his medical over the next few days and could make his debut next week against Bari in the Coppa Italia. Milan will now focus on outgoings before targeting any other signings.
