Wings fans won't be happy...
Dallas Wings Dealt Concerning Paige Bueckers News on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After leading the UConn Huskies to a national championship, Paige Bueckers had a quick turnaround for her first WNBA season with the Dallas Wings.
On Friday night, the Wings will look to end a three-game skid but have a tough challenge, hosting Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty.
And Dallas will be shorthanded against the defending champs.
Wings Announce Paige Bueckers Injury
In Tuesday’s loss to New York, Bueckers suffered a back injury, and Dallas initially listed the point guard as questionable for Friday’s game. However, just hours before tipoff, the Wings announced she would not be available, marking the seventh game the rookie has missed this year.
Guard Ty Harris still remains out for the season with a left knee injury, while Myisha Hines-Allen was ruled probable with a left ankle issue.
Paige Bueckers' Rookie Season
While the Wings have had their fair share of struggles during the 2025 WNBA season, falling to 8-22, Bueckers has been one of the bright spots. The rookie leads her team in scoring, assists, steals and blocks, while becoming the first rookie to start in the All-Star Game.
Through 24 games during her rookie year, Bueckers is averaging 18.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
The Wings will hope their new star isn't out long-term, but with just 14 games left in the regular season and sitting near the bottom of the standings, they likely won't rush her back as well.
"I was just dribbling the ball and just felt a tightness come along," Bueckers said after Tuesday's loss. "It's day to day. I'm hoping it won't take me out. Just get some treatment, get some rest... I think it's just a pulled muscle. I felt a strain, felt it tighten, so am just getting it worked out."
