OT Justin Herron was injured in pregame warmups for the Detroit Lions on Friday, while OL Colby Sorsdal appeared to injure his leg on his first snap.
The Detroit Lions lost three players to season-ending injuries in their preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Lions placed tight end Kenny Yeboah and offensive linemen Colby Sorsdal and Justin Herron on injured reserve Sunday, and waived running back Jabari Small with an injury settlement.
Herron was injured during pregame warmups on Friday, Aug. 8, and left the field with trainers. He signed as injury replacement for backup offensive tackle Dan Skipper, who hurt his ankle in the Lions' preseason opener July 31 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Skipper could return to practice this week.
Sorsdal appeared to injure his left leg on his first snap of the Falcons game, when he replaced rookie Tate Ratledge at right guard late in the first half. He stayed in to finish the series, but did not return to the game.
A fifth-round pick in 2023, Sorsdal was competing for a backup job at offensive line and playing both guard spots and some tackle in practice.
Yeboah injured his ankle in the Chargers game but returned to practice last week. He played 21 snaps against the Falcons, into the third quarter, and was not targeted on a pass. He was competing with Shane Zylstra for the No. 3 tight end job.
Small had 16 carries for 48 yards this preseason.
The Lions signed offensive linemen Gunner Britton and Keaton Sutherland, tight end Gunnar Oakes and running back Deon Jackson.
Jackson is the second UFL running back to join the Lions this summer. He finished third in the league in rushing, behind Jashaun Corbin, now with the Falcons, and Jacob Saylors, who led the Lions with 35 yards on nine carries against Atlanta.
The Lions return to practice Monday, Aug. 11, and have joint workouts this week with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and Thursday, Aug. 14.
