Kobel: “It has been a super demanding week for us”

Gregor Kobel on the game against Juventus:You could see that we weren't playing with the same sprightliness and the same tempo as we did last week (editor's note: against Lille) or as we did towards the end of last season. It has been a super demanding week for us. We trained very well. Nonetheless, we performed relatively well in the first 20 minutes and had control of the game. Then you could see that our legs were getting tired.

…on playing alongside Mats Hummels:I was super happy for him that he got his farewell match. I've never seen him as nervous as he was today. He played well, especially considering that he has been out for so long.

…on what needs to be improved before the cup tie:It is difficult to pinpoint that exactly. We could not cover the same ground that we usually do. Defensively, we arrived late on one or two occasions and left too much space. Those details then make a big difference. All the training and playing time is doing us good. We now have a few days to take a breather. I know that everything will turn out well in the end.

…on the aims for the new season:We always want to achieve the maximum, whether it's on the training ground or in matches. We have to keep going in the same vein and we want to continue as a team with the same aggression and intensity as last season. With this intensity and this focus on covering ground, the rest will follow automatically. Because that's the foundation. (br)
