The Golden State Warriors are reportedly showing interest in acquiring a rising star from the Chicago Bulls during their slow offseason.
Warriors Showing Interest in Emerging Bulls' Star Amid Underwhelming Offseason: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
As the NBA offseason enters August, the Golden State Warriors still have yet to make any additions to their roster outside of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Of course, the Warriors were expected to be aggressive this offseason to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to chase a championship next season.
Instead, the Warriors have failed to make any moves as they continue to await a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga who has reportedly turned down Golden State’s contract offer.
Kuminga has reportedly been offered contracts by a few teams around the NBA in free agency as well but they have failed to meet the Warriors’ high asking price for him in a potential sign-and-trade deal.
While waiting for Kuminga’s situation to be resolved, the Warriors have missed out on a ton of free agent targets but they are reportedly showing interest in a rising star from the Chicago Bulls.
Warriors showing interest in Bulls' Josh Giddey
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors have reached out to Josh Giddey’s camp as the Bulls have been unwilling to meet his desire of a contract that would pay him $30 million per season.

This comes after the Bulls have been unwilling to meet Giddey's $30M/yr contract desire amidst his restricted free agency situation 😬

Of course, Giddey is a restricted free agent like Kuminga and both the Bulls and Warriors are facing a difficult situation in bringing both players back.
Because of this, the Warriors are now among some teams to show interest in Giddey and with the Bulls reportedly also showing interest in Kuminga in the past, a sign-and-trade between the two sides could be the solution to their problems.
For Giddey, he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 46.5% from the field and 37.8% from three last season.
The 22-year-old can play the one through four positions and would be a solid addition to Golden State’s lineup as he would give them another great scorer, defender and playmaker alongside their star trio.
Despite this, the only way for the Warriors to land Giddey from the Bulls is with both teams agreeing to a sign-and-trade that would swap Giddey for Kuminga and with Golden State unwilling to give Kuminga what he wants contract wise, it may be the same for Giddey.
