Get your seatbelts ready because the high school football season around the country is getting set to take off as football programs have been preparing. We head to the Keystone State to check on the top Pennsylvania high school football of the 2025 season and highlight which ones would be the best to catch this fall. With teams like St. Joseph’s Prep to La Salle College, Pennsylvania doesn’t lack for football talent.

If you’re ready to gas up your vehicle this season and checkout some good high school football, take a look at our list of Top 10 Pennsylvania games for 2025.

1. St. Frances Academy (Md.) at St. Joseph’s Prep, Sept. 13

This is a granddaddy of them all when it comes to games in the Keystone State as both teams should enter nationally-ranked. The pedigree of both programs alone make this a can’t miss game as the two will clash in Philadelphia for a Northeast showdown. The Eagles have to replace a lot on the defensive side of the ball, as they graduated several key starters. On offense, St. Joseph’s Prep features sophomore sensation wide receiver Jett Harrison, the younger brother of former Ohio State star and current Arizona Cardinals star wideout Marvin Harrison Jr.

2. La Salle College at St. Joseph’s Prep, Oct. 4

We quickly pivot to another St. Joseph’s Prep game, but this time they’ll be taking on a La Salle College group that’s looking to make a splash this upcoming season. A revamped St. Joseph’s defense will need to key on La Salle College quarterback Gavin Sidwar (Missouri commit) who enters as the state’s top signal caller. If you’re looking for the best matchup between two in-state Pennsylvania high school football programs, this is it.

3. La Salle College at Malvern Prep, Aug. 29

Up next on our list is our first Malvern Prep sighting as they host La Salle College in Week 2 of the season. There’s a cavalcade of reasons to honestly believe this game will go down to the wire like last year’s edition. The Explorers just barely edged out the Friars in a 21-17 meeting in 2024 and both clubs return a lot of the very talent that hit the field. This contest it a hotly contested Pennsylvania high school football affair as the programs have split the last four meetings.

4. Delbarton (N.J.) at Malvern Prep, Sept. 6

Here’s our lone New Jersey versus Pennsylvania matchup on our list as the Green Wave heads over to Malvern for a Week 3 tilt. This might’ve been the most epic of all rematches on this list when thinking about the previous meeting. Malvern Prep trailed 17-0 heading into the final quarter and exploded for 27 fourth period points to win. The second version of this game could really go either way, though Delbarton did lose a bit offensively.

5. DeMatha (Md.) at St. Joseph’s Prep, Aug. 30

The second Maryland versus Pennsylvania game to reached our list is when the Stags head to the city of brotherly love to face off against the Eagles. St. Joseph’s Prep loves feasting against football programs out of the DMV region as the Eagles boast a 7-0 record and have defeated the likes of teams during that stretch like Archbishop Spalding (Md.), Gonzaga (D.C.), Good Counsel (Md.) and Middletown (Del.). That’s a murderers row when it comes to the top teams out of the DMV and a win against DeMatha would add another to the ever-growing list.

6. La Salle College at Central Catholic, Aug. 22

Many of the games on this list played each other in 2024, but not when it comes to the Explorers and Vikings clash to open up the season. Central Catholic is coming off a terrific 2024 season in which they reached the Pennsylvania high school football state championship and were upended by national power St. Joseph’s Prep, 35-6. The Vikings are looking to head into this season with a chip on their shoulder and no better way to make a statement than against a very good La Salle College bunch. This low key could be the best of them all.

7. Imhotep Institute at Harrisburg, Aug. 23

When the Cougars and Panthers meet to kickoff the season, you have two programs looking to make a point right out of the gates. On one end, the Cougars are coming off a 2024 season where they climbed up the 6A ladder to the state semifinals, losing to Central Catholic. On the other, Imhotep Charter is perennially known as one of the top programs in Pennsylvania high school football and can validate that when the open the season on the road.

8. St. Joseph’s Prep at Roman Catholic, Oct. 10

Though we were done listing St. Joseph’s Prep on our list? No way, as the Eagles taking on the Roman Catholic Cahillite is by no means a game that’s all done and decided. Whenever you’re able to trot out a quarterback like Akron commitment Semaj Beals. Last season against the Eagles, Beals stood out in the 48-20 loss, with the quarterback throwing for 336 yards and three touchdowns. Leave this date open as a game to hit come mid-October.

9. Pine-Richland at Central Catholic, Aug. 29

Both teams return ample talent on the offensive side of the ball. If really anything else, we could easily see each team throwing touchdown haymakers all throughout the evening en route to a game breaking the over of 80-plus points.

10. Bishop McDevitt at Harrisburg, Aug. 29

Last, but definitely not least is the battle between the Cougars and Crusaders square off in Week 2 of the season. This early season matchup was a thriller last season when Harrisburg just narrowly upended Bishop McDevitt, 35-33 in overtime. Whenever you can add a game that the previously year totaled 775 yards and nine touchdowns, we think you add it in there.
