Quick takeaways from the Jets' win over the Packers in preseason action.
The New York Jets started the Aaron Glenn era on a positive, at least in the 2025 NFL preseason, as the team notched a 30-10 win in his first game on the sideline against the Green Bay Packers.
Along with Glenn, there were plenty of other new faces that suited up in the Green and White for the first time.
And as is usually the case with the preseason, there were plenty of noteworthy things that went down on the field with many players fighting for playoff time and roster spots.
With that, here are Jets Wire's five takeaways from the Jets' preseason win over the Packers:
Justin Fields starts well
Maybe the Jets defense is just that good during training camp practices?
As New York's offense has reportedly struggled plenty during workouts this summer, the unit played well in Green Bay. Quarterback Justin Fields included.
Fields' first drive as the starting QB for the Green and White ended in a rushing touchdown for him. He was also 3-for-4 passing for 42 yards.
Time to build on that.
Tufele played like a star
While Fields did well, he was not his team's most impressive player. That honor goes to defensive tackle Jay Tufele.
Simply put, he was elite.
#Jets DT Jay Tufele is ON FIRE in this preseason opener vs the #Packers:

Penalties were brutal
While there was good, but there was still bad for the Jets.
Once again, namely penalties.
It was prior to Glenn's arrival and still hasn't changed. There were multiple personal fouls called against New York and, in total, the Jets took nine penalties for a loss for 81 yards.
Glenn was animated on the sideline about the issue.
O-line impressive
Throughout the contest, the Jets offensive line played well. The starting unit did in particular.
Fields was not sacked and running back Braelon Allen had a few solid carries despite being stopped on one short-yardage situation. Allen had eight carries for 33 yards (4.1 avg).
The most important thing
What could derail Glenn's first year at helm before it even starts? Injuries.
That Jets avoided that which is hugely important.
