Boom! Jaguars kicker Cam Little boots a 70-yard field goal to end first half vs. Steelers

It won't count in the NFL record books but it was a nice moment as Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little booted a 70-yard field goal against Pittsburgh.

Who said NFL preseason games were boring or forgettable?

Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little made the kick of his life that won't count on Aug. 9 when he made a 70-yard field goal on the final play of the first half at EverBank Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Little, who made field goals of 41 and 40 yards earlier in the first half, cut the Steelers' lead to 14-9 with his improbable boot from the Jaguars' 40-yard line. When it cleared the uprights with room to spare, Little gave several fist pumps and the Jaguars' bench exploded to mob the second-year kicker.

The NFL record is 66 yards by Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens, against Detroit on Sept. 26, 2021. The record for a preseason game is also 66 yards, by Brandon Aubrey of Dallas on Aug, 18, 2024, at Las Vegas.

Both of those kicks were in domed stadiums, off artificial turf. Little kicked his off grass, but there was no wind.

Cam Little has enjoyed a solid training camp

After missing two 50-yard field goal attempts on the second day of training camp, Little has made 20 in a row in live team periods. As a rookie last season, Little made 27 of 29 field-goal attempts (93.1 percent), with the longest coming from 59 yards. He made all 27 of his conversions.

Little was a sixth-round draft pick from Arkansas.

College record is 69 yards

Little's field goal was also 1 yard longer than the NCAA record, a 69-yarder by Ove Johansson of Abilene Christian in a 1976 game against East Texas State. At that time, college kickers were allowed to use a small tee on which the holders could set the ball.
