This is a big move.
Why former WR Bo Melton is playing cornerback for Green Bay Packers originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Green Bay Packers have a new cornerback this season.
He's not new to the Packers, though. He's a familiar name to Green Bay fans: Bo Melton.
It's just a new position.
Melton used to be a wide receiver, but this summer, he began the transition to corner.
Early reviews are strong, and Melton has a great chance to make the roster and even play key snaps in the regular season if he keeps trending the way he is.

Why is Bo Melton playing cornerback?
Bo Melton is playing cornerback for the Green Bay Packers because they have too many wide receivers.
Green Bay has a stacked WR depth chart with names like Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Mecole Hardman, Matthew Golden and Savion Williams all in the picture.
Melton likely wouldn't have made the team at wideout. But the cornerback room is one of the weakest on the roster.
Recently, Melton opened up on the transition to corner.
"I definitely wasn't expecting to make tons of plays," Melton said. "I ain't made a million of them, but I've made some plays. I was like, 'OK,' so I did surprise myself with the skills I brought to the table, I would say. It definitely was fun, just getting out there with the boys."

Bo Melton's brother
Bo Melton's brother, Max, can be an intriguing mentor here.
Max is a cornerback in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals.
Bo told ESPN that Max's reaction to his position switch was, "What the f—?"
Bo Melton switched numbers this offseason from No. 80 to No. 16 and appears to be a full-time corner now.
It has a chance to be a great move for his career and for the Packers.
