On Saturday it was the cornerbacks turn to meet with the media. Austin Alexander and Jahlil Hurley were the representatives for the group.

They talked about fall camp and what they see from their position unit. Watch what they had to say at Saturday’s media session.

Jahlil Hurley- CB

Kansas cornerback Jahlil Hurley said fall camp has been going well as he focuses on improving his pad level, the playbook, and building chemistry with teammates on and off the field. He credited recent team bonding, including a trip to Kansas City with fellow defensive backs, for strengthening relationships.

Hurley said his decision to choose Kansas after leaving Alabama came down to several facors. Initially he wanted to stay in the SEC, he visited Missouri, Michigan State, and Kansas, but felt an immediate “home” connection in Lawrence due to the coaches.

He’s gained about 10 pounds through the strength and nutrition program and feels much more comfortable compared to the spring. He said he believes he can lock down an entire side of the field.

Austin Alexander- CB

Austin Alexander said fall camp has gone well with its ups and downs, and he’s been focused on finishing strong. He feels much more comfortable in his second camp because he knows the defense and can play faster, saying extra film study and off-field work for his growth. Alexander has picked up more reps with the first team.

He said nutrition has been a big focus, working with KU’s staff to maintain and build weight—going from the high 160s when he arrived to about 185 now.
