It’s finally time to claim your tailgating spots outside Kroger Field. In the past, fans could set up their tents as early as they liked during the summer, but this year, Kentucky is requiring everyone to wait until Saturday, August 9, to stake their spots. That’s tomorrow, so if you’ve been waiting, get your gear ready.

UK Athletics sent out more information about the process. Starting Saturday at 8 a.m. ET, you can set up your tailgates outside the stadium. Any tents and trailers set up before then will be removed. This is separate from the Cooper Drive tailgate setups, which will still occur on Fridays before game days at noon ET.

Everything that is set up (e.g., tents and trailers) must be tagged with contact information so UK’s staff can reach out to you in case something happens to it or it needs to be moved for mowing and maintenance. If you don’t have a tag, UK Athletics will have them available outside Gate 1. They’ll also be on hand Saturday morning to answer questions and provide guidance.

All items left at Kroger Field must contain the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

If you are setting up a tent or structure that requires stakes, ask before you dig. Anything that requires stakes more than four inches into the ground must be pre-approved by UK Athletics (859-218-3716) to avoid hitting underground electrical lines, water pipes, and other utilities. Other common-sense measures include not staking tents or structures next to the base/root of a tree and not blocking parking spaces.
