3 observations from the final day of Buffalo Bills training camp

A few quick observations from the final day of Buffalo Bills training camp.

Buffalo Bills 2025 NFL training camp has wrapped up.

The team will head back to Orchard Park to take on the preseason. In terms of Day 12 of training camp, what stood out the most?

Here are three observations from the 12th day of Bills training camp:

Cook's finale

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook runs by slapping hands with out held hands as he heads to the field during the Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford on July 24, 2025.

It was a weird one for the James Cook saga as training camp concluded.

Prior to practice, head coach Sean McDermott indicated that Cook was expected to practice... then he did not. It's unclear what happened with the Pro Bowl running back. The story is certainly a heavily monitored one now.

Starters plan

Bills quarterback Josh Allen runs the perimeter of the practice field high-fiving fans after practice during the final day of Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University Thursday, August 7, 2025 in Pittsford, NY.

The plan for the Bills' starters was also revealed ahead of the team's preseason opener against the New York Giants on Saturday. Quarterback Josh Allen will not play... but other starters will get in about a quarter's worth of work.

Kicker likely coming

Buffalo Bills place kicker Tyler Bass looks over towards a teammate after leaving the field at the Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford on July 24, 2025.

McDermott also indicated a kicker addition is likely to come before Saturday. Tyler Bass (pelvic) has missed eight-straight workouts and won't go against the Giants. McDermott said two kickers worked out with the Bills on Thursday, but did not indicate who... but someone needs to kick in the game.
