On Wednesday, University of Louisville quarterback Miller Moss was named to the 2025 Davey O’Brien Award Watch List.

The O’Brien Award, named after the legendary TCU quarterback, is awarded annually to the nation’s best quarterback.

Moss, now entering his redshirt senior season, transferred from USC in the offseason and quickly established himself as the leader of Jeff Brohm’s offense during spring practices.

With the Trojans, the 6-foot-2 gunslinger served as the backup to 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams. He closed out the 2023 season, filling in for Williams in the Holiday Bowl, throwing for over 300 yards and five touchdowns against Louisville’s defense. Safe to say that performance caught Brohm’s attention.

The 2024 season was supposed to be a big one for Moss and USC, but his numbers lagged with a struggling supporting cast. He threw for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in nine starts. However, Moss was benched towards the end of the season as his team finished with a 7-6 record.

Louisville’s offense has high expectations with Moss leading the charge this fall. He is among the seven ACC quarterbacks named to the O’Brien Watch List.

From the ACC: “The official Davey O’Brien Midseason Watch List will be released on Tuesday, October 21. It will include active quarterbacks from the preseason list, weekly Great 8 honorees from the first eight weeks, and any additional players approved by the selection subcommittee. The 35-player Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2025 will be announced on Tuesday, October 28. Fan voting on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (X) will again count as bonus committee votes during the semifinalist, finalist and winner rounds. First-round voting begins October 28, following the QB Class announcement. Semifinalists will be revealed on Wednesday, November 12, with the three finalists announced on Tuesday, November 25. The 2025 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be announced live on ESPN on Thursday, December 11, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.”

The Cardinals are in the midst of fall camp and begin their season on August 30 against Eastern Kentucky at L&N Stadium.
