Bills cornerback's creation becomes a major attraction at Pittsford ice cream shop

On Aug. 7, Eric Whitlock of Pittsford had pretty much the perfect summer day for a Buffalo Bills fan.

He attended Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University on a day with glorious weather (if you weren't bothered by the wildfire smoke). He scored autographs from Dion Dawkins, Ray Davis and Joseph "Buffalo Joe" Andreessen; his mom even got a hug from Dawkins.

They headed to lunch at the Pittsford Pub, and finished the day with the latest feather in a Bills fan's cap: ordering a Tre'dae Sundae at Pittsford Farms Dairy. He wasn't alone in this idea; the popular ice cream shop was hopping after the close of the final day of training camp.

The longtime shop's newest menu item originated during the HBO television show "Hard Knocks."

This season's debut episode depicted the Buffalo Bills at training camp, and among the scenes was a team visit to Pittsford Farms Dairy. There, Tre'Davious White requested a warm chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, a lot of hot fudge and sprinkles.

The veteran cornerback coined the creation the Tre'dae Sundae, and asked the staff to make 20. He spent a good half hour passing his creation out to fans in line and chatting with them, said co-owner Charles Corby. When the team and staff returned for a visit days later, White reminded the staff exactly how to make his creation. "He brings high energy and is a total people pleaser - so fun to be around," Corby said.

After the sundae was featured on "Hard Knocks," the shop immediately got requests for the sundae – so many that they added it to the menu, said Meghan Corby, Charles' daughter. "Right now it's our most popular sundae," she said.

Whitlock was among the people who were enticed by the show. "We don't need any more food but I'm doing it for the unique event." After tasting it, he pronounced the NFL pro's creation "very good."
